Welcome!
I'm going to give this a try and see if it takes off...
So let's see I'm a 28 year old newlywed, mom to be, daughter, sister and friend. 2010 has been the year that our world was changed, got engaged on Thanksgiving Eve 2009, and began planning our wedding for May 2011~but there were some other plans in store for us to start our lives together a little bit sooner rather than later!
In early January, we decided on a whim to enter the Y98 Mega Wedding contest. We had to submit a written entry (98 words or less) of our story and why we should be chosen to be a finalist. If we were chosen as one of the final 4 couples, the public would have to vote for us to determine the winner. A few days later, Ryan recieved a phone call from the radio station to let us know that we were in the Top 10 final couples! We had to go to the radio station that night, record a video to tell our story and why people should vote for us. The final 4 couples would be announced on air Friday morning....Well Friday morning came and we anxiously waited to hear if we had made it. After the first 3 couples were announced, my hopes were getting diminished when I heard Jen (one of the DJ's) say that Couple #4 had an interesting story...Ryan knew right then that it was us...we dated each other's best friends in high school.
For the next 10 days we were officially known as Couple #4! Voting kicked off at 10:00a that morning along with a whirlwind of emotions and campaigning...see this is not a small prize to win. The winning couple would recieve and wedding valued at $30k!! The whole kit and kaboodle would be ours for the taking (dress, tux, ceremony and reception at the Sheldon concert hall, honeymoon, limo, photographer, engagement pictures, cake, caterer, hair and make up, just to name a few!). We had to win, our families were consumed with it...then after the longest 10 days of our lives, on Monday January 18 we recieved the phone call that we had been waiting for~WE WON!!! We blew the competition out of the water with twice the amount of votes as the second place couple!!
So the next three weeks were spent planning a wedding fast and furious (all of the vendors were already layed out for us, we just had to go and pick our options). Ryan and I were married on the air on February 12, 2010 at the gorgeous Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis. Oh by the way, did I mention that in the midst of our engagement, we found out that we're expecting?!
This has been one crazy and exciting year so far and I cannot wait to see what the rest of it brings us. Stayed tuned...its sure to be a fun ride!!
